[a in love with m] wedding day: anand karaj
The wedding ceremony room was beautiful, every wall decorated with bright colors.
Here is the excerpt from the program that explained the Anand Karaj - the Sikh Wedding Ceremony.
"The Sikh wedding ceremony is called Anand Karaj, literally meaning ceremony of bliss. During the Anand Karaj, the bride and groom walk around the Guru Granth Sahib- the Sikh Scriptural Canon,. This act symbolized the central role of the Guru plays in Sikh life and tradition.
As the couple circles the Scripture, the collective sings a composition... that extols the ideal relationship of a human with Vahguru, and in the context of the wedding cremony, this relationship is extended to the bride and groom."
The songs of the Anand Karaj were so beautiful, while I didn't understand the singing themselves, the descriptions in English provided for us where lovely as "my soul is colored with love" and "my lotus heart sings."
When A & M circled around the Guru Granth Sahib 4 times, to me it seemed like such declaration of their commitment to each other and their religion. Just beautiful!
The guests came and payed their respects.
The room was filled with glorious colors!
The ceremony begins. Amandeep's sister and brother in law led the group in singing.
The Bridal Procession!
A and M begin to circle.
Isn't M breathtaking?
After the ceremony, they treated us to yet another yummy buffet!
Up Next: The reception!
